BIO

Since 2016, Cryptozoologists have been creating scrappy art rock in Whitehorse, Yukon, with acclaim and without it. The band’s music carries a spirit of raw and unapologetic political directness, while their distinct, literary songwriting and style evoke Indie lyricists like Destroyer’s Dan Bejar and Wolf Parade’s Spencer Krug. The band consists of songwriter Zach McCann-Armitage and Dawson Beaulieu and Fabian Brook. Vancouver Sun has described the band’s sound as “really quirky, accomplished garage No Wave that deserves a far larger audience,” while Cups N’ Cakes has called the band “delightful scuzzy garage rock […] that manages to feel charmingly unserious and literate at the same time.” Cryptozoologists have performed at Breakout West, Dawson City Music Festival, and Flourish Festival. “Jumper Cables,” the newest single from their forthcoming album Backwater Station, has been dubbed as “Sheryl Crow meets Franz Kafka.”
